How to Make Your Own Mulled Wine

This recipe serves approximately 6 to 8 people.

Ingredients:

1 cinnamon stick

1 sliced orange (including peel, preferably organic)

1 sliced lemon (including peel, preferably organic)

4 allspice berries

1 bottle of red wine (1.25 pints/750ml)

1 cup of water

2 teaspoons of ground ginger

2 teaspoons of ground nutmeg

Method:

1. Place the spices into a large saucepan, add the wine, brandy, water and sugar.

2. Heat gently on a low heat. Sitr to dissolve the sugar. Do not allow to boil or overheat because this makes the alcohol evaporate. Ladle into cups or heat-proof glasses.
